Because I prefer to use my iPhone with only a skin for protection, I like to have a holster around. Keeping my iPhone in my pocket is uncomfortable, and the screen is subject to damage from change and keys. So, if I’m going to be up and about and need a secure way to protect my phone while also having easy access, a holster’s the way to go. And a decent option for this is the 4 Cast leather case from the Primary Case Company.

Most holsters force you to use them horizontally. The 4 Cast, however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], has a swiveling belt clip that allows you orient it however you want. You insert the iPhone lengthwise into the long opening, and a flap then locks in place over it via magnet. The problem here is that the fit is tighter than it should be…at least my review model was. It loosened up some with use, but not enough to increase usability. To get the iPhone out of the case, you should be able to push it up through a hole in the bottom. But the fit was so tight that I couldn’t do this. I had to remove the holster from my belt in order to push it out.

In addition, depending upon the way the phone was facing when I put it in, doing so or taking it out would set the phone to shut down mode. I’d have to cancel that in order to use it.

This is a shame, because it’s otherwise a very good case. The black leather has style, the magnetic flap is easy to use and stays in place firmly, and the belt clip is strong enough to hold its position but simple to remove when necessary. In addition, it comes with a carrying case to protect the leather when you’re not using it.
